Editorial

Embroiderer Michala Gyetvai is featured on the cover of the new May/June issue of Embroidery magazine. After a career working in retail she shares how she is making up for lost time, learning all she can about her life long passion for art and embroidery, while exploring a new world of colour, fibre and thread as she works towards her first solo exhibition in the autumn.

Most of you will be familiar with the work of embroiderer Linda Miller, whose nifty machine embroideries capture the quirky side of life. We catch up with Linda and find out about her new book in which she shares how to create your own machine embroidered pictures. We also talk to Rachel Gornall, who works with layers of cotton organdie to create beautifully precise, patterned forms.

Alison Hermon talks about opening her house in Hove to visitors as part of the annual open studios event and Jilli Blackwood reveals all about designing the costumes for the Glasgow team as part of the Commonwealth Games handover in Delhi. And, as usual, we bring you news and previews of all the great events and exhibitions taking place in May and June.
