The World of Embroidery

Some highlights from the September 1999 issue...

Frankie Creith's article Luscious Layers shows this talented artist's approach
to design and stitch, working in layers using paper as a source material.
See the full text and some illustrations online.

In her article Art & Inspiration, Liz Harding finds this inspiration in two directions
- landscape and the human figure. She will be one of our speakers at the
Textiles 21 Embroidery Event.

Another artist who draws on figures for her mystical, machine-embroidered pieces is
Freda Brierley. In her article A Global Perspective, she gives us the New Zealand viewpoint
on the future of textile art.

Amanda Jones left Great Britain's shores for Canada and is greatly missed.
Her textural pieces really do make you want to touch. In her article Considering the Future,
she shares her ideas and inspirations.

In the Gallery, Rachael Howard's witty pieces tell tales and suggest dialogue.
You can see examples of her work at the Textiles 21 Embroidery Event, too.

And finally, because I enjoy using it so much, we thought we would feature a Product Review.
Xenofex special effects software really is great.

Plus many more articles, news and reviews of books, exhibitions and more products . . .
