Jane Kenyon

I can't tell you how pleased I was to see the work of Jane Kenyon (The World of Embroidery, May 1999) being recognised for the wonderful art that it is. Jane was one of twenty students who were members of the first City & Guilds Embroidery class offered in North America and was awarded her Part 1 certificate in 1998. I suppose the 'weekend workshop being offered in Washington state', mentioned by the writer of the article, was actually a reference to the three year long City & Guilds Embroidery course which Jane successfully completed. If certificates of distinction were still being offered, Jane would certainly have achieved that award.

Jane Kenyon has had several exhibitions in British Columbia for which she has received the high acclaim she deserves. She has helped to take the art of embroidery, and the recognition of embroidery as art, to new heights in Canada. I suspect that C&G Part 2 Embroidery, for which she has now registered, will see her climb to even greater heights.
