Plea for Photographers

Loved your new direction for the magazine and although I can understand the need for professional-quality slides from would-be contributors, my heart fell when I saw your request for twelve. I must be one of many embroiderers with neither the time, the knowledge, the facilities nor the equipment to produce professional-quality slides. So why are your excellent, informative advertising pages not bursting with professional photographers who have the requisite feel for textiles and are willing to do the job for us? Personally I would need someone in the Glasgow/ Ayrshire area to save me from perpetual obscurity.

Sally

Ed: I take your point, and have commissioned Stephen Brayne, a studio photographer, to write an article for the July issue on how to photograph textile work. For those who would rather engage a professional, I would like to compile a list of recommended photographers. If you have had your work photographed and have been pleased with the results, please pass on the contact details of the photographer and I will print a list. I suggested twelve images as it is helpful for page layouts to be able to choose from a mixture of landscape, portrait, whole pieces and details.
