Does anyone have in their possession, or know of any embroidery worked during the Second World War? I am researching for a degree and would be extremely grateful for any information.

In my father's linen cupboard is a small square tablecloth, suitable for a tea table, that was embroidered by my mother in WWII. We always called it "The Blitz Cloth" as she embroidered it while sheltering in the cellars of Greenwich College during the London Blitz; she was a Wren steward on the staff. Apart from the story behind it, there's nothing remotely unusual about it - a white cloth with a basket of multi-coloured flowers in each corner, probably from a commercial design - and that it travelled with her throughout her married life in the Middle East.
